Injecting widely means laying out the same principle across a map of your face.

The principle is the same as with 1cc — product placed in the shallow layer of the skin reduces signals to the sebaceous glands and tiny muscle fibres. The difference is coverage. Because 3cc plus 1cc is divided across the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, we first map out how much goes in each spot and where to leave untreated. As with 1cc, the studies are still small, so we describe it as a supportive way to help skin texture.

How it works

  3cc plus 1cc

  The “+1” in the name means 1cc added to 3cc. Where the added 1cc goes is decided by looking at the zone where your concern is strongest.

  Drawing a map of the face

  We divide the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin into zones, decide and mark the amount for each zone, and then inject according to that map.

  Spots left untreated

  Spots close to the smile muscles, such as around the mouth corners and directly under the eyes, are left untreated or injected only very shallowly.

  Wider means smaller

  A wide area means more injection points, so a smaller amount goes into each spot to keep bumps from concentrating in one place.

What the procedure is like

• Apply makeup after the injection points have settled.
• For about a day, avoid products you rub on, such as scrubs and toner pads.
• If you feel tightness, apply a gentle moisturizer generously.

Safety & considerations

The wider the coverage, the larger the amount used at one time. If you’ve had Botox elsewhere, be sure to tell us. Effect and duration vary from person to person.

   Small bumps over a wide area

   The injection points look slightly raised in several places on the face and usually settle within a few hours.

2. A few days

   Watching for tightness

   If your skin tends to be dry, you may feel tightness for a few days, so keep up with moisturizing.

3. Several weeks

   Differences by zone

   The degree of change can differ by zone, so we compare photos under the same lighting rather than relying on the mirror. (Results vary from person to person.)

If both skin texture and expression lines concern you, the two treatments can be planned together. Whether to have them on the same day is decided during the examination.

• Q. How many cc is “3cc+1” in total?

  3cc plus 1cc makes 4cc in total. This amount is divided among the zones of your face. Where the added 1cc goes is decided by looking at the zones where shine and pores are worst. Because the area is wide and there are many injection points, each point gets a smaller amount so that raised marks don’t cluster in one place.

• Q. If it’s injected across the whole face, won’t my expressions look unnatural?

  It is diluted and placed shallowly, and spots close to the smile muscles are left untreated, so your everyday expressions generally stay the same. Even so, if the area around your mouth feels unnatural, we reduce that spot at the next session. The spots left untreated are those close to the smile muscles, such as around the mouth corners and just below the eyes.

• Q. Should I choose 1cc or 3cc+1?

  If concerns are concentrated in one zone, we look at 1cc first; if they are spread across several places on the face, 3cc+1. If it’s your first time and you’re curious how your skin reacts, starting with 1cc is also an option. If skin texture and expression lines both concern you, this can be planned together with Wrinkle Botox, and whether to have them on the same day is decided at the examination.

• Q. Does a wider area make the effect last longer?

  A wider area doesn’t make the effect in any one spot last longer. How long it lasts depends on the amount placed in that spot and the condition of your skin. The effect is temporary and the degree of change can differ by zone, so at the next session we redistribute the amount by separating zones that changed little from those that changed enough.

• Q. My skin is dry — can I still have it?

  With less sebum, dry skin may feel tighter. We reduce the amount in dry zones or leave them untreated, and also give you guidance on moisturizing care. If your skin feels tight for a few days, apply a gentle moisturizer generously, and for about a day skip products that involve rubbing, such as scrubs or toner pads.
